Grandma's Pies & Restaurant

Every time we come to Albany! Always hot and fresh. I only wish management would spiffy-up the housekeeping. This little restaurant would attract scores of folks if it were shining clean. Rugs, floors restrooms, chairs all need thorough cleaning. But still great recipes, home cooked taste, good prices!

Very quaint little eatery. Food is excellent, portions huge. But it's the pies! all kinds of flavors. Just wonderful. I had pot roast, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender, followed up with country apple pie. I did not leave hungry. The service was outstanding. Our waitress was helpful and knowledgeable. I would visit again.

Hadn't been there in over 30 years a little shabby but they have the best pies I've ever eaten. I had lunch there Thursday the staff and service were wonderful . My spinach quiche arrived quickly and hot the texture was was perfect- light and almost fluffy and the crust was flaky and rich, it was also served with very nice fresh fruit.My side salad was fresh with crispy lettuce and a nice light blue cheese dressing.I had coffee for a beverage which was hot fresh and full bodied. It was hard to choose desert but I decided on the coconut cream pie and it was good beyond description absolutely delightful! I plan on going back soon and often.. The prices were also reasonable.

Excellent service was the first thing I noticed. After that the Turkey soup was great. Next I ordered a BLT sandwich which was a classic with bacon that tasted great. I don't like bacon in restaurants much but this was very good. Lastly I ordered coconut custard pie and it was perfect from the crust to the filling. All in all a pleasant and tasty experience.

Great cozy and homey vibe to this place. Attentive wait staff who serve delicious American fare. Do yourself a favor and get the cream of turkey soup! By far the best offering here, and yes, that even includes the pies. Also, get some pie here. Every one is amazing!
