I love this place. I live in NYC now but make a point to stop here whenever I’m heading up to lake George. It is that good, that even with Chinatown in reach I’m happy to stop here. The staff and owners are wonderful and friendly, and they truly have some of the best soup dumplings I’ve ever had. They also have some more authentic dishes (according to my gf) that you can’t find other places. But make sure you order the soup dumplings for sure.
Small place, nice waiters. But soup dumplings were so tiny and tasted way below average. The meat ball soup was super salty. If you are looking for genuine Shanghai cuisine, it is NOT the right place.
The pork soup dumplings are AMAZING!! Cannot recommend them higher! Eat at the restaurant, it's a great experience. We did find that getting the food as takeout was not quite as good, and it all got pretty soggy.
Our surprisingly non-Asian waiter Nicholas was friendly, knowledgeable and funny. The pan fried mini pork buns were the perfect size appetizer and the Orange beef was crispy and unctious. The best I've had to date. Will definitely return!
Had my birthday dinner 0n 3/13 at Ala Shanghai. Food was wonderful. Dim sums were fantastic. So was pan fried noodles. Service was outstanding. Watch out for the fried pork dumplings. I bit into one and it was juicy, it squirted on my shirt. Instantly a server was there with club soda and a new napkin. If the food is as good the next time I eat there I will probably add another star. And thanks to Nicholas, my server, he did a terrific job.
