No one to ring up your food. Waited but food got cold. Went back to pay when the person sweeping up went to the register.
Food is good, better than what one might expect from a touristy place, but the price is definitely touristy. A sandwich is like 12 bucks! Yikes.. but the vibe is good and the view from the cafe is very relaxing, although it's not as awe inspiring as the description says about the 100-foot pine trees from around the world. I would give this place another star if prices were better.
Food is fine. They were totally understaffed when we went and my wife kept getting redirected to different cash registers because there was no one working the main register. It took her 5 minutes just to figure out where to pay then she had to stand in the coffee line with her hot food behind people ordering their coffee and muffins
A great location for a tasty and tastefully prepared meal. Courteous and professional service. I had a chicken sandwich and soup, even though I was in the sandwich line the woman serving me politely accommodated my need for soup. My friend who is a vegan loved their salad. The seating areas are well lit, airy and clean. There is the option to sit inside or outside. We chose inside because we were cold, tired and exhausted after doing the Tour de Bronx bicycle ride. I am glad we sat inside because it was nice and warm, just right to take off the edge of the crisp Fall air. On the flip side, it was a bit pricey, $48 for soup, salad, sandwich, a coffee and a bottle of juice. But the ambiance and quality food was worth it. I will be back!!!
I would agree with most of the reviews here which state the food is okay, but the prices are outrageous. The NYBG itself is not priced for the entire community access. The prices for entry are dismaying to those who live here, even the "special" discounts. So don't expect their food venue to be priced in a way to accommodate the diverse community
As it was, my husband and I, shared a large cup of great coffee. Bring your sandwiches & get a drink and sit down and enjoy the view. Great area for birders!
