I was in the neighborhood and went to The Fountain Diner to have a meal. I used to eat here before the remodeling and renaming of this restaurant. Like everyone else I found the new place to be cozy, and clean. I also thought the waiter to be pleasant, and attentive.
When I went to pay my bill I noticed the amount I was charged was more than what was on my receipt. I questioned the cashier about this and she explained to me that customers are charged a fee when they pay with a credit or debit card. This extra charged prompted me to look over my receipt. I noticed a service fee in the amount of $1.71. When I questioned that charge I was told that a service fee is charged for dining in. No where on the menu or in the diner is there signage informing customers of these extra charges. Had I known that from the beginning, I don't know if I still would have dined there. But, by not disclosing that information, they didn't allow me a choice.
I understand that due to COVID19 the restaurant industry has taken a massive hit. I have no problem supporting establishments, nor giving good tips to good servers. However, I prefer for businesses to be upfront about all of their fees. I do not like being nickeled and dimed, and I do not appreciate undisclosed charges. Many patrons just pay their bills without ever looking at the receipt. The Fountain Diner profits from that. That just doesn't seem right to me. Let your customers be aware. It's only right that you do.
My first time in this restaurant was pleasant and comfortable. I noticed it was an Arabic restaurant. It was very clean and tables are very spacious.
The waiter & staff were professional & attentive. Restroom is clean and well kept. I ordered a cheeseburger deluxe. It was cooked deliciously well along with the fries. I was very satisfied and content. I would definitely eat here again along with my family.
This place is great and has both a restaurant and Cafe sort of vibe.
The coffee selection is impressive especially with its Yemeni style of making which uses its own grounds, the places also serves the basics of coffee: drip coffee(made from a electric drip machine), lattes, cappuccinos, cold brew, etc.
The diner also has an assortment of packaged goods such as drinks and snacks.
If you plan to visit I highly recommend the Belgian waffle as it is fluffy and crispy in just the right parts and the ice cream on top compliments the flavor of the waffle so well it should be illegal lol.
Overall great place, my only complaint is that the drip coffee isn't made with a pour over dripper but with an electric coffee machine, would visit again.
We've been here a couple of times already. This area really needed a nice little diner to stop by and have some decent food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere of the diner is also quite pleasant. Ordered a burger and fries tonight. The burger was 4 out of 5, and the fries were a solid 5. I mean, I don't say this lightly, but they rival even the best fries from the golden arches clown place. Also, the portions for what we've ordered so far have been quite generous. Would definitely come again and recommend others to try them out, too.
