Mogridder's BBQ

My dear Brother I hope to visit Moegridder's BBQ as soon as I can. Marines stick it out together for life. I know the food will be great. Simper Fi !!!!

That Mogridders exists is pretty awesome. While it is odd that a car shop would start selling food, keep in mind this place is practically across the street from Hunts Point Market, the primary food distribution hub of NYC; its not that big of a stretch when that--along with the disposition of the blue collar guys in this neck of the woods--is considered. First time, I got a takeout order of a pulled chicken sandwich with potato salad, which also came with a pickle. The pulled chicken was pretty good, not great just because it was a little dry and needed some more sauce. The sauce itself was great and vinegary, just needed a little extra something maybe to balance it out, but that might just be a person preference. The potato salad was ok, but I've had better. The pickle was great though, nice and flavorful. Overall it was good for the price, but I wish I had gotten a platter (has much bigger portions). Sometimes I've repeated this order, sometimes I've gotten the roast turkey when they have it, other times the brisket. The food is all good, and you really can;t go wrong, but it isn't word-beating BBQ. I wouldn't suggest anybody come up here just for the BBQ unless you're a huge BBQ nut, but if you're in the area its definitely worth a detour. Not many people do real BBQ in NYC, after all.

Amazing BBQ! The guy who owns/runs the place treated us like old friends. Giving out samples of brisket to us as we were on line and chatting while preparing our food.

I'm not sure if the deal still exists, but you used to be able to get work done on your car and meat together as a special. Something like a rack of ribs and an oil change for $40. This deal may be no more.
