As a fan of good old small-town taverns with a history to match their other charms, I was just delighted to walk into The Wicked Glen and scope out the woodwork, the massive bar back and the pretty extensive collection of Jim Beam decanters that take up a whole wall in the dining room area. Old meets new in the patio and deck which looks to be recently and solidly constructed - perfect for sunning and sipping cool drinks in the summer, but looking equally inviting during cooler months with a gazebo and propane fire pit. Local microbrews, some local wines and a sampling of locally distilled products fit nicely into a pretty sizable selection of beers, wines and top shelf liquors. Prices are very reasonable and service was small town friendly and prompt. While I didn't eat during my first visit, there is a very good chance I'll be back to sample a few items off their pub menu, which includes a stable of half pound burgers, freshly made chips and fries, local specialties like wings and roast beef and even pizzas. If you like a casual place with friendly regulars, plenty of space and a pretty varied selection of beverages and munchies, you'd be hard pressed to find a better choice in the southern part of WNY than The Wicked Glen. I'll be back soon.
Found quite by "accident", were trying to get around a multi mile back up on the NYS Thruway & found The Wicked Glen on a side street in Gowanda. The bar/restaurant is a bit rustic, tables are the tall variety and the service was great, the food even better. Good luck finding it.
Great atmosphere, and great bartenders. The food, boneless wings and tenders, were very good! The patrons were warm and greeted people they did not know.
This was a fun little spot. It's a good in between stop if you're heading through the area. I really like this place because it does have pool, darts, games and jukebox so more than just a pub. Food was okay... good but nothing to write home about.
Nicely laid out. Pleasant staff. Prices affordable and a cool deck complete with gas fireplace and gazebo. Had a great time. Will be going again!
