We had pizza from Villaggio last night best we have had in quite awhile. Nice sauce, and crust was perfect. Keep up the good work...

We ordered the Antipasto pizza and tried two different chicken wings: Teriyaki and Buffalo maple bacon. The antipasto pizza was loaded with toppings fresh and hot! The teriyaki wings were very good sized, cooked crispy, and had a decent flavor. The reason I am not giving 5 stars is because of the Buffalo maple bacon wings. Good size and cooked crispy BUT, the lack of any real stand out flavor was very disappointing.

    ***FRESH SAUCE FROM SCRATCH***

A few weeks ago (on Christmas week I presume), a little place in Silver Creek that has gone thru a couple of different versions of take-out pizza opened up into what is now called “Villaggio Italiano.” From the outside, the beige color allows the prideful Italian colors of green, white, and red to glow vibrantly. Even at night, the lighting looks professional.

The menu was easy to read and colorful in the same colors as their signage and had a few historical pictures of Silver Creek. One page was devoted to Appetizers, Salads, and Soup, 3/4 page was devoted to Entrees and 1/4 page Hot Sandwiches, and one page devoted to Pizza and Wings. I was later told by Chef Kyle that desserts would be coming soon to the menu. I also wonder what else might change with the menu through time because it is nice to try something new from time to time whilst keeping the favorites.

Both of us were very hungry and did not have time to make dinner that night. I didn’t get home til 8pm on a Friday. I was nervous about coming in that late because they close at 9pm, so I called first to make sure it was alright. They had no qualms about us coming in, and the entire time we were there we did not feel rushed. We left around quarter after 9pm.

Being our first time there, I wanted to get a variety of items off their menu. I ordered the mozzarella sticks to test their deep frying abilities (some places serve them squishy!). I also ordered one of the soups of the day “Tomato with Basil” in a cup. I told Nicole she could bring both the App and Soup out together, and it was brought out after we finished the mozzarella sticks (probably a more wise sequence anyways).

The 4 sticks were crunchy on the outside and glistening ooey-gooey liquid delicious mozzarella on the inside. The marinara was to DIE for. I split the App with my wife and I was digging into the marinara sauce before she was even done hahaha. My basil tomato soup and her house salad came out shortly after we finished the sticks. Again, my soup was “mad” delicious and I let my wife decide for herself. She said it was definitely made from scratch. Her house salad looked good in the wooden bowl it was served, but the house-made Italian dressing is a little much on the vinegar side, so test it before dumping it on your salad!

For the entree I had the “Meatball Grande Parm,” which was Spaghetti with an Extra Large Meatball. In the menu it says it’s sliced, but I wanted it served in ball form. They make it with beef, veal, pork, cheese and spices-a mixed meat meatball is the best way to have one. I might have a slight bias on this review because I absolutely love sweet red sauce, but it was also my favorite part of this dish along with the garlic bread that’s included with the meal. Like my dad, I prefer to use bread to gather my pasta rather than a spoon (which was also included). I could not finish my food so I took every scrap home because you don’t throw away liquid gold.

My compliments to Chef Kyle for caring about his food and making it fresh and from scratch. As long as they do that, I’ll be back every week. They’ve got limited street parking at the moment, but if you live in the Village of Silver Creek, park near the village square, or at Rite Aid, it’s a 10 minute walk or less. The owners are aware of their situation and have hopeful plans for the future to come… including dessert!

You can’t buy this type of quality at the store, and you can’t get this quality of food yourself unless you slave over your oven for many hours. If you’ve been living under a rock and want real Italian food the way it was meant to be, I suggest you step inside and have a seat. Both my wife and I would rate this restaurant of similar quality between Pittsburgh’s “Lydia’s” and the local “Pasquale’s” chain. It may be a quaint locale, but trust me, you won’t leave unsatisfied!
