First, let me start off by saying the food is delicious and is all homemade. My party started with an order of the Scotch eggs and heirloom tomato salad. I had the tagliatelle with stuffed meatballs, someone else had the ahi tuna tacos, and another had the salmon. Everything was amazing and the service was great.
One thing to be mindful of is that this place can be extremely packed or extremely empty. It really depends on the day and time you go. I don't mean weekday either. One Friday, you could be waiting a while. Another Friday, you could be the only one in the restaurant.
That being said, this place needs more traffic. The menu constantly changes to feature what's fresh, the family is extremely local, and the ambiance is cozy and inviting; almost like you're eating at your mother's house. So don't be afraid to go!
This is the only argument one needs to make when trying to describe why Kinderhook is excellent. This family restaurant is a crown jewel of the Hudson Valley.
Warm, inviting atmosphere, and delicious food. Nice family run business. Not many of those left.
Can't beat the hospitality! Ever-evolving menu of interesting small plates, great beer selection, cozy feel in a vintage house. Brings a welcome touch of class and coolness to Kinderhook.
To have beef served well done and still be moist and tasty is uncommon... kudos to the chef! We had the beef tenderloin tips and and loved them!! The wait staff was warm and friendly. Highly recommend!!!
