Venison with pear sauce was delicious, but for the short ribs they seem to have swapped out boneless brisket, without notice. Still, the sauce was excellent, a good thing because the meat had no decided flavor. The chicken breast with morel sauce - and chicken breast is but a vehicle for a sauce - what can I say. The distinctive morel flavor is fit for the nonexistent gods.
The old coach house has atmosphere enough for a romantic evening or a mother's day meal. Prices on the high side for the area, but so is the gastronomic level. Be hungry if you go. The portion size is American size large rather than French slender.
Inviting antique building with large eat at bar and gastropub style informal table seating. French classics. Side rooms look perfect for a small party.
A very charming old inn turned into a restaurant. Amazing atmosphere with exposed beams and fireplaces. Food was very good and so was the service. Definitely would recommend!
The food is consistently amazing..as is the staff..
The specialty drinks are innovative.. the atmosphere is so warm and cozy that you feel like you are eating a friend's home. The bar room is lively and the smaller rooms have fireplaces and are charming. One can never go wrong dining at Stissing House..out favorite restaurant in the area.
Great charcuterie. I had the burger which was cooked perfectly. Wife had the mussels. They were just undercooked. French fries were outstanding. Great wine list. Draft beer selection could be expanded. Overall a surprisingly good French restaurant in small-town Pine Plains.
