Great spot for cheap breakfast food. Good service.

Family owned diner in the heart of Buffalo's East side. This is literally a landmark spot on Fillmore Ave. A fantastic place to stop and get a bite in a quiet setting. Good prices and the food is freshly prepared to order.

I will not be back. The 3 stars are for service,cleanliness and portion size. They don't use actual butter and the bacon was see thru. Even the water was off. I left half of my food on the plate.It wasn't bad, it just wasn't satisfying. But it was packed,clearly a favorite community spot. The waitress was lovely and professional.

As a Buffalo native, few restaurants on the east side of Buffalo (and the city proper) carry with it the homely legacy that Mattie's bestows. It's an old school diner in a modern world, standing the test of time with the same old reliable service and cate that one remembers from their younger years. The grill is the first thing you see when you walk in, which announces to the customer that Mattie's knows what you're coming in for, and the charm of the rest of your visit is what you'll stay for.
