Soup dumplings at brunch are a delightful thing.
Very friendly, very neighborhood restaurant and bar, excellent prices, great charm, really good food and value
We hadn't been back since it opened years ago. There was an article about the best restaurants in Cobble Hill recently so we decided to check it out. I was very impressed by their soup dumplings. The filling was delicious even if the skin was a little thicker than I like. Great flavor. We had a very generous lox platter. We make super crunchy and delicious scallion pancakes. The only sort of week dish was the egg and rice. The duck egg was purportedly soft boiled, but while the i yolk was still runny the white was overcooked and tough. I thought there could have been more sauce on the dish. It was kind of dry.
I love the acoustics in the place when there are not screaming children. It is a popular place for people to dine with babies and children so be warned.
The service was very good.
Vekslers is not just an ordinary dive bar. It has fantastic asian-inspired cuisine as well as a few well made salads and special items. They have great happy hours daily, for example $8 General Tso's on Tuesday nights. Great cocktails and a cool vibe as well. Plus the bartenders have always been really nice. Make it a regular spot.
Great neighborhood place, excellent food, great value, chill staff. The egg bowl is amazing, they took it away for brunch but I saw it came back for dinner. And then sighed with relief. Coconut rice is highly addictive. Cauliflower with buffalo sauce is so crisp and makes one feel healthy despite the fact that buffalo sauce is butter and hot sauce. If you're in the area, great spot off the beaten path (facing the BQE)
