Armando's Pizza

Armando's was, is, and forever will be, the KING OF SICILIAN PIZZA! I didn't visit this place for many years, just because I didn't live too close. When I tried Armando's again, some 25 years after my Canarsie days, the pizza was at least as good as I remembered. Let's start with the crust. It's always fresh; not par-baked for speed, like most pizzerias. It is always light and airy. The sauce is bursting with flavor, too. You can taste the quality of the tomato sauce and the perfect blend of seasonings. To top it off, there's the cheese: an abundance of stretchy, delicious mozzarella that goes on for days, yet never seems like too much. I have put toppings on this pie, but it's really not necessary.
In addition to this phenomenon of pizza perfection, Armando's makes quite a few other great items. Topping my list is the Margarita pie, with a fresh tomato sauce, fresh basil, fresh mozzarella, and a ring of sesame seeds around the crust. Their hero sandwiches are brought to another level by the delicious fresh bread upon which they create these masterpieces. I could go on, but you're probably in your car right now, heading to Rockaway Parkway already. If not, then you should be. Tell Carlo that Randy sent you!
