Some very good dishes but the meal overall lacked a cohesive direction. I wish they had delved more into the dishes and some seemed to be thrown into the tasting. For $300+ a person, there are many other restaurants that are not only better tasting but also much more special.
I took my family to Aska to celebrate my wife’s birthday last week. We never tried Scandinavian food before, so I did not know what to expect. I chose the tasting menu and wine pairing in the private dining room. The food was amazing and also was the wine. The service was impeccable. However, I wish the time between plates was a little shorter. I will definitely go back!!
I ate at this restaurant with family and friends three years ago and have thought back on it dozens of times since then. This was simply the most memorable meal of my life and completely changed the way I think about food. I experienced flavours here that have not even been approximated anywhere else.
The mussel expulsion was absolutely fantastic. Full of flavor, very faviken feeling and was just absolutely delightful. I thought it was a great opening and best dish of the night. Aska follows by delivering very beautiful food plating dish after dish.
Simply the best restaurant in New York! Creative Scandinavian cuisine and very friendly, discreet, and knowledgeable staff. One of the most memorable culinary experiences of my life!
