Di Fara Pizza

There is a reason why this pizza joint as been around for so many years. The pizza is definitely delicious. The pie however is really expansive and it’s a cash only place. There isn’t much room to sit at the restaurant so take out is a better option. We had the original famous pizza without the sausage and we enjoyed it.

Going to be straight up with this. The pizza was very good. I come from New Haven and I’ve had the Pepe’s, Modern, Sally’s all on multiple occasions. The debate between New York and New haven pizza is one I hear all the time so I wanted to see how well one of the greatest reviewed pizza places in the country was like that was in New York. I’ve had Johns already and I thought that was great. In my opinion, Di Fara’s is way better. The pizza has an extreme amount of flavor in every bite. I did think the texture of the pizza itself was a little hard, but wasn’t too crazy.

I will say though that the wait times were very terrible when I went. All I ordered was a slice and the place wasn’t packed at all and it took over an hour to receive it.

Now, do I think it beats New Haven’s best? I’m obviously slightly biased, but I don’t think so. But do I think it’s one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had? Easily, and I expect to return again.

Delicious!!! Beware this place always has waiting line! I went with my family during the week in the evening and amidst light shower we still had five people ahead of us waiting to order. We ordered their one large classic pie and it was the best pizza I had till date. The sauce is tangy with subtle other flavors, base crispy and well done, cheese perfect and topped with fresh basil and right amount of olive oil. We all loved the pizza so much that we joined the line again to order another pie! Do try it while the old man still makes the pizza himself!

Here is the thing. The pie was good, we ordered a margarita. The quality of the produce was flawless, the tomato sauce was seasoned perfectly, the dairy was creamy and full of flavour. even the olive oil drizzle provided a great balance to the whole.

But, we arrived at 2pm and the line wasn't that long, about 4 people in front of us. It was not a weekend. We ordered quickly and sat in a small room they have around the corner. The meal arrived at 5 in the afternoon... So, was it worth it? It was delicious, it is undeniable. Would I go back? I don't feel like waiting that amount of time for it..
