This place is cool. It has seen better days though, staff can sometimes have an attitude.
I am sad because I had El Cortez 'saved' for over a year, finally stopped by and was very dissappointed. The Radeberger was flat and the bartender kept pouring it with quite a bit of foam --I don't like foam. I have a thing for Mexican food and I know this was Tex-Mex but...
The food lacked any real deep flavors and the sauces were all extremely bland. How could spicy be bland? Just asking. I needed lime or lemon or you know salt at least. The tortilla chips were good, want to know why? They had a nice coating of SALT and we're warm as if they were fried not too long
Went here to see a show at the bar upstairs. Was really pleasantly surprised! The cover was $10 and the space was pretty big and had a great outdoor patio. Prices were good and the bartender was really nice.
For what it is, it is great. The food is delicious, and beers are pretty cheap. The upstairs has a small venue space and I have been to a few shows there. The staff are nice and it is a tiny space so you get good view no matter what.
Great little place. I went there for a show that they hold in the upstairs section. Good drinks with an awesome bartender. She was very attentive all night. They also have a little patio that you can step out to. The place is intimate and great to see your favorite band!
