Not sure how I’ve walked past this place for 4 years and never went in. Well, that’s changed... Fantastic atmosphere, great bar seating, and excellent food. Will definitely be back!
Imagine you’re on a small “fishing” boat approaching the port of Sicily. The locals welcome you, and you unload your “fish”. Your fish is actually smuggled wine, and you take it directly to the wine cellar beneath a castle. That is where you’d find Bella Gioia with a fantastic, small Italian chef. Your glass stays full, your bellies leave stuffed. Highly recommend.
Super accommodating as far as special requests and very friendly staff. The food is always great. A little hidden gem.
Bella Gioia is located just off Union Street Station and serves up classic Italian fare in a quaint restaurant with brick walls. The service gives you a family run restaurant feel, being friendly but not overtly fast. They usually have seasonal beers on tap and I would strongly recommend getting their pizzas (I had the Sicilian).
Came here by chance and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was empty except for a couple tables. The food is good, classic Italian with good ingredients. The service could is good but not exceptional. The decor is nice and cozy even if it's an open layout. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for decent Italian food in the area.
