Had a yummy Bloody Mary and something from the brunch menu. Very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Will have to come back to try the coffee.

I love you guys but I hope as owners you read this the first time I got your avocado toast it was absolutely unbelievable it was MASHED and a generous amount of avocado and poached lemon the last time I got it on Saturday the avocado wasn’t even mashed literally a burnt piece of bread with just bland slices of avocado with the onions on top and some scallions. Did you guys change chefs? PLEASE fix this issue I really love your place and want to see you guys do well because I’m a big fan but this is how places go out of business especially in this neighborhood. Quality has to match the pricing. I will delete this review once I get a respond from the owner I just want to know it was read :( thank you

Nice little coffee shop. Seating is sparse. Food menu was not displayed when I went there so I had no idea what they offered. If you don't know how to act in a hipster coffee shop then it might be too niche for you

Truly a hidden gem. I started going to Matter when they first opened, mostly for the bread pudding but also because of the great coffee. Now, that they’ve added to their menu, I love coming on the weekends for their brunch items or their delicious burger for lunch. I’m happy that they’re doing so well in Bay Ridge (even though sometimes it’s hard to find a seat when they get busy on the weekends). It’s also a great place to come and study if you come early enough... they’ve got a big, long table.

The best cafe in Bay Ridge hands down. The coffee is excellent, the food is unique and comforting, while affordable, and whenever you come in you will always be greeted by a friendly worker who clearly cares about the business and your satisfaction. I’m yet to come in and NOT have a great conversation with a happy face behind the counter. Good people, good coffee, good food. Now get off your phone or computer and GO HERE.
