Lovely experience at Alta Calidad.
Firstly, the food and drinks: Cocktails were well made. I'd say order about two or three dishes per person. I ordered the scallops, the octopus and pork belly, and the mushrooms (that came on some sweet potato or squash thing). While the scallops were delicious and it was well executed, it didn't stand out as brightly as the other two. The octopus and pork belly on rice situation was lovely - flavourful, great textures. The mushrooms were truly a delightful surprise. For dessert, the airiest churros with a chocolate sauce that wasn't too rich. Just right.
Atmosphere: good job of making it a chic space with good music.
Service: this was really good - not too overbearing, the bartender checked in on us an appropriate amount, which is always appreciated.

This would a 4 or 5 star for typical diets, but for us it's 3. The food was very tasty and creative, but the dishes were all either oily or fatty, which we both have difficulty tolerating. We often frequent the better Mexican restaurants in Manhattan and BK, and have come to expect not seeing fat or oil. if you don't care, this is a good place for you.

Stopped in for lunch at this very inviting local space. Food and service were great. Lots of small plates with interesting combinations.

I love love love this place. Every dish I had was delicious. I highly recommend getting a reservations here, because they are always booked. Or come here really early for dinner. The pumpkin quesadillas are amazing. So is the roti dish. We liked everything we had on the menu.
