Convenient to the F, this neighborhood spot for lunch has at least one hit. The meatloaf sandwich comes with a German potato salad and makes got the best a hearty choice in comfort food. Others of us found the fried chicken sandwich somewhat meh. Friendly owner/staff and a mural photo of the building c. 1900 give Sumner's Luncheonette a pleasing vibe.
Delicious! If you like Butterfunk next door, you’ll like this slightly more casual lunch spot that shares their kitchen. Pleasant and quiet space, kind and efficient staff, very tasty food. Had the catfish sandwich, YUM.
Recently changed name (formerly Brooklyn Commune). I really like the fried chicken and cornmeal catfish sandwiches.
Came for lunch around 11.30 on a weekday. Not an enormous change from Brooklyn Commune as far as the decor -- a little more open and airy I suppose. I had the egg, cheese and bologna which was pretty good (tell them to hold the mustard if your not a fan like myself). My wife had the fried chicken sandwich which was on par with the fried chicken from butterfunk (who they share a kitchen with) which was good. Looking forward to trying the weekend brunch.
