Absolutely love this place! The tribute bagel sandwich is life!!! So so good! If you are a smoked fish lover it is an absolute must try. Also love that they have halva.
I placed a large takeout order today for a Bris - The food was incredible and the package Shelsky's put together was turnkey, with environmentally friendly dishes spoons and forks. The blood orange juice was a big hit. The coffee was great but the platters and salmon and whitefish salads were top shelf, plus the dessert tray and fruit tray. Worth every penny!!! They delivered what they promised.
Beautiful and welcoming space serving up many deli items. The menu is chalk(board) full of sandwiches to choose from. Staff are nice and friendly, and the service is fairly fast. While on the expensive side, a great treat to indulge from every once in a while! A great neighborhood store that I hope does not leave.
If you like a chewy - I mean CHEWY bagel, this is your place. The first bagel I had was “stick to the roof of your mouth” chewy. Didn’t seem right. Almost as if the bagel wasn’t allowed to rest after baking. That bagel had salmon cream cheese, which was only ok. The salmon flavor didn’t really come through. Second experience, bagel was still chewy, but not as much. Crunchy exterior and lots of seeds, which I appreciate. This bagel had the white fish salad, that was a hit. Not too salty like others usually are. Trying the pastrami next. Coffee is just average.
The "Great Gatsby" sandwich was unbelievably good. Pastrami-cured salmon with honey-mustard. Not a combination I would have dreamt up myself, but nonetheless the best thing I've tasted in recent memory. I could have easily eaten two of them.
I've been here for lunch twice. The previous time I got the "Fancy Pants", which was merely ok and not particularly noteworthy. So first lunch experience garners 3 starts, and the second garners 5. Which would average 4, but the "Great Gatsby" was so exceptional it needs to be 5 overall.
