Sal's Birdland Restaurants

iconic dish in Rochester. eating since 1982 when I first arrived from Tokyo Japan. Love it!

Sal's birdland is an old favorite of mine from my RIT days in the 1980s. They're still open, and putting out the same fried chicken they always have. I got an order of 20 wings from them recently and they were delicious, just like I remember. The only reason I did not give five stars is they are very expensive for wings. If you don't mind paying for excellent quality chicken, Sal's is a good place.

My family has been getting fried chicken from Sal's since before I was born. We still order Sal's at least once per month. This is my favorite fried chicken in Rochester. Can't beat their sassy sauce.

The location is in inconvenient area. Easily overlooked the place. I heard about this place from Google search. I thought I would give it a chance since I *LOVE * chicken wings. The wings itself is OK even though it's little bit of pricey. Not WOW WOW. I have tasted the better one, BUT the sauce is DELICIOUS!!!! I got Jamaican Sassy Sauce. It tastes sooooo good. Don't put the sauce aside. I regret it. When I go back, I'll put it on wings for second opinion.

At first, this place looks like a hole in the wall dive. But venture inside, and you'll be met with friendly smiles and delicious chicken. We had the spicy ribs and wings. The ribs were 'melt in your mouth' tender. The wings were crunchy and juicy. The sauce was just enough heat to make your mouth tingle, without wanting a fire hose. Their potato wedges had flavor and crunch, but 'baked potato' soft on the inside. The mac and cheese was creamy, not from a powder mix. We will try to come back.
