Great pizza family owned been in business 30 years, real cicilian pizza, one of the last truly good pizza places left in Rochester. One of my favorites.
Ahh Nino’s! I live in Honeoye Falls but I have to make the trip all the way to Nino’s because there is no better pizza anywhere. The fresh dough baked to a perfect crust, the way they bake the toppings and then add the luscious cheese. And then there is that sauce with such wonderful flavor. They always show you the pie before you pay with much deserved pride. The best Sicilian pizza anywhere.
I ordered a pie from Nino’s after a quick google search of “Rochester Pizza”, kinda of liking the appeal of this low key type joint. Just trying to get a quick and easy Friday night grab-dinner, I wasn’t thinking much or even expecting much from this restaurant.......that is until I opened the box.
Not to gab off like some “Hauté” food critic, but this pizza was something beyond food. It was an experience. The robust sauce was flavorful and demanded to be acknowledged, yet didn’t over-shower to the whole symphony. The crust was the perfect balance of char and crunch on the outside, with the perfect balance of warm-chewy/ fluffy on the inside; like Deadpool kind of. But there was something beyond the immediate flavor that really took hold; and that was love.
I’ve had pizza here and there. In the crowded streets of Brooklyn, rad pizza-pubs of Chicago, the blooming boroughs of Jersey, the weird little mom and pop joints of the Midwest, and of course the abominations that exist in my home area of Northern NY. And each place really has its merits ( accept maybe the North Country). But here in Rochester, Nino’s puts forth a pie that speaks more then “ damn that was good”.
Nino’s pizza took me back to summers with the grandparents as a kid. Nothing fancy, but homey and comfortable, and full of family passion. It was like I was back in those innocent years when time stood still, and magic still existed. When times were much simpler, and you didn’t have a care in the world. When the hardships of life were unbeknownst, and love was always found unconditionally.
I tip my hat to Nino’s. 50 years going strong, and I hope the continue forever more. Not just for the brilliance of cuisine, but for passion as well. And if not just for their own sake, then for the sake of love.
Very unique style of pizza for the area. Delicious fluffy, crunchy crust, incredibly flavorful sauce, and lots of fresh toppings. They use home made sausage and it's so good! I was very pleased with the price, quality of ingredients, and friendly staff.
Best pizza in Rochester. Excellent crust and I could live on their red sauce. There is a very good reason why they’ve been around since the 1960s.
