Good breakfast!

I visit a friend in Merrick three times a year and have been having breakfast here for many years. Jan and Alma are very nice people, always friendly and happy to see me. Food and service are great, and the place is very clean, including the restroom. It's a great way to start my day before taking the train into NYC. I look forward to my next visit.

Best breakfast and lunch spot! Jan, the hands on owner, makes you feel like you're home! Great location, right near train and shopping!

I lived in Merrick for many years and worked evenings and went to Gourmet Express almost every day, for the great food and atmosphere along with a very friendly staff. I pick up my grandson every week from Sewanhaka H.S. and we travel there for lunch, and he loves it too.

This small coffee & breakfast shop is an absolute delight! Although the breakfast & lunch menu are the typical of what one would expect from a breakfast nook, the quality, tastefulness (and not too mention THE QUANTITY) of what you get is bar none!!! The prices are extremely easy on your wallet while the food is extremely filling on the stomach. The owner, Jan, and his ever faithful sidekick, Alma, are both present and working very hard every second of the day; and ALWAYS have a smile on their faces!! Coupled with their abilities to remember a plethora of guests names and how each one takes their coffee, the 2 of them make a great team and every customer they serve walks out with a smile!! Personally, what I love the best is the fact that when I call ahead each morning to place my order, I don't get greeted with the generic "Good morning, Gourmet Express. How's may I help you?" Instead, I get a personalized "Good morning, Matthew! Would you like your regular sandwich & coffee?" THAT'S the way every place should be!! Kudo's and thank you for all that you guys do for me and my stomach each & every morning!!!
