Came up for Andy date to port Washington walked around drove around checked out the beautiful views all around the golden cost. Later we stopped in the wild goose right across from the LIRR Port Washington, not expecting much. It is a beautiful chicken restaurant. Inside is dimmly lit great atmosphere. The staff is friendly and informative. The bar service was wonderful. We ate there cuz the tables were full. There is not a big area for dining so make to call ahead if possible. If not eat at the bar like we did. It was fast service as well. We only caem in for appetizers and drinks and we're not disappointed. The clock work orange drink was great !! And the wine was good as well. We had the poutine and baratta. Absolutely delicious!!! We were not dissatisfied at all. Will come back on out next trip out.
Food is really good. Saturday night atmosphere is hoping. Strong local spot
Emma, the manager, is top notch. Professional, friendly & really charming! Annie the waitress is terrific & so attentive. A really terrific place. An absolute charming place. Food is fantastic!!
Nice staff, solid menu, contemporary decor. The many of the items on the menu changes frequently, so it never gets boring. But if you love a specific dish, that can sometimes be problematic because they often times can't make it for you again. The grilled salmon in general is fantastic at the Wild Goose, but the seasoning and garnishes will be completely different if you go a few weeks apart. The changes forces you to try new things, and usually you will be delighted that you tried that "new" menu item.
As a frequent visitor to the South, I consider myself an afficianado of Southern cuisine. So when I tell you that this is the best southern fried chicken I've ever had, it is high praise indeed. Crispy, crunchy, yet moist throughout, it is a real treat! The grits were also cooked to perfection. The portion is a good value, I took half of mine home for round two! My friend chose the gnocchi, another winner. That, too, went home for a second serving. For dessert, she chose the ricotta cheese cake and was in a stupor as she scraped her plate. I was served three profiteroles filled with homemade vanilla ice cream, and a pitcher of warm, thick dark chocolate fudge syrup. Bliss! We highly recommend this restaurant. It's a must on your list of restaurants in Port Washington!
