Brasserie Cassis
Came here with a friend to try out the Long Island French scene. As others have pointed out, it's located in a shopping plaza. But once you come in, you'd never know. It reminded me of local places in Paris. French postersoin the wall. Cute things like a little pig hanging from a wall. It happened to be restaurant week so it was a great excuse to have a 3 course meal. The salad was very delicious - fresh greens, red beets, bright vinaigrette, blue cheese (Gorgonzola?), and candied walnuts. For main I had the hangar steak which came out tender and tasty with a side of scalloped potatoes and sauteed spinach. They wouldn't let me sub fries for the potatoes but I guess for restaurant week... And for dessert I had the profiterole with vanilla gelato and chocolate sauce. It was good. But my friend got the apple tart (?) which was superb. There was literally 1 piece of bread per person (but that was really good bread) with ramekins of really creamy butter and some kind of pate. The food was great and the service was efficient. Would like to go back and try their regular menu.
Went here for dessert, with party of 8, to celebrate a birthday. Everyone was very happy with their choices! We had pecan pie with ice cream, profiteroles, cream brulee, apple turnover and a variety of coffee beverages. All very good. Service was very friendly. Very nice easy to end the evening.
The mussels were worth it alone !!! Have them in half portion and try the different varieties. The sweetest part was the the dessert. Creme brulee was creamy and authentic. Apple tart and chocolate mousse was the talk of the table !!! Definitely worth going back!!!
Dinner for 2 was great. Food was out of this world. Love the escargot delish ????. Restaurant was warm and cozy. Beautiful place, friendly staff. I will be back again
