The old Woolworth Tower Kitchen has been slightly reconfigured and renamed the Wooly Public. The result is noisier and less relaxing. The remodeling did not extend to the back rooms or the bathrooms, which remain comfortably seedy. Service is friendly and not overly obsequious. A tolerable watering hole in a transitional neighborhood otherwise divided between miserable dives and over-the-top pretentious money sinks.
Great atmosphere, great bartenders and overall a really nice place to get a drink after work. Loved the boneless wings... The Peking duck tots were a little bland.
I'll call this an upmarket pub. Excellent service and atmosphere. Offering good pub meals at expected NYC pricing.
Great place! Amazing service. Amazing menu selections. Ordered the vegetarian sloppy joe and was not disappointed. Great combination of flavors and textures (a crunchy and spicy surprise inside!). Cobb salad is both delicious and filling. Great for a business lunch or a date night with that special someone.
Better at night after sunset. I work in the area and have had lunch there. The food is fine and the decor pleasing. When evening falls and the place is darker the decor comes together in a more pleasing fashion. It’s not quite speakeasy but definitely something from earlier on in the last century.
