Good service, good food, not too expensive -- it's nice! The next-door caffe is really cute though really crowded.

13/10 this place will blow your socks off. The three of us couldn't decide on 3 entrees so we got four. The seafood risotto was today's special and it was exquisite. We also got lasagna, black seafood linguine, and linguine calabrese. Would 100% recommend you check this place out

Reliably well-made Italian food with an authentic "home-cooked" feel to it, so this is a frequent favourite for me. Portions are very generous, and the prices are reasonable by NYC standards. Cash only, as many others have mentioned. Service is brusque but efficient.

I’m giving Max 5 stars even though the food can occasionally be hit or miss. But it makes up for it in its lovely, relaxed, European ambience and neighborhood feel. Pastas are usually very good and I order the salmon almost every time I go. The fact that they only accept cash seems a little obsolete, but overall Max is a great place for a quiet dinner.
