I really wanted to love Mayanoki because of their amazing MO of sustainable fishing, but their omakase was only decent. 13 pieces/small dishes for $95 a person is a good price, but many were lackluster and unmemorable. At that price point there are other, more satisfying omakase restaurants. The meal was also too slow paced for me, clocking in between 2-2.5 hours. I left feeling like I hadn't eaten dinner at all but this could be because I'm a fatty at heart. In short, I do not recommend this and will not be returning.
Loved it. The experience, the food surprisingly creative, the service, the wine... will definitely be back!
A unique unforgettable intimate experience with rare sushi bites made course by course in front of you. Local wine. Everything is sustainable.
Mayanoki was a really fun experience. Chef Jeff is doing something different, and some courses pack a punch of flavour that incorporate his nostalgia and imagination into the food. It's his fresh and different take on a traditional omakase sushi meal.
Thought I never wanted meal to end, it was so exquisite. But truth be told I was full and very happily satisfied. Highly recommend Mayanoki to any one who lives sushi.
