I felt like I was in Greece. Simple authentic ingredients, well prepared equals the best Greek food I've ever had. The grilled lamb chops are amazing and are sold by the kilo.
The space is small for the amount of people in it which is understandable at a restaurant in Manhattan. The music is very loud which is typical for many, but not all, Greek restaurants that I have been to. These two things aside, I should say this: I love Greek food. I seek it out and usually share good locations with friends. This is why I was a little shocked that in a city like New York, in Manhattan of all places in New York, there could be a Greek restaurant that was the very definition of mediocre.
Decorated in blue and white, this restaurant is jam packed with patrons after work so expect a wait. It's definitely worth it though. Very reasonable priced with great fresh tasty food.
Great Greek food. I had the beef moussaka with Ouzon (Greek soda) and everything was delicious. The interior is authentic, the staff are mostly Greek. It was a pleasant experience. The only downside was the baklava: it was unnecessarily expensive and the syrup was way too sweet.
Excellent Greek Taverna in the Middle of Manhattan.
Place is not fancy or quiet (when it gets busy) , but if you are looking for good food and service, you are in the right place. Lamb chops are excellent and grilled to order. Moussaka was delicious and plentiful. Would be a good place to go if you just wanted to share many small plates. I will definitely return.
