El Parador Cafe

I've been visiting El Parador for nearly 20 years. The food is consistently stellar - I don't think it's possible to find a mediocre dish on the menu. If it's your first time, don't miss the nachos royale and the taco tray. After you try those, I'm sure you'll be back again and again just like I have. They also may just have the best house margaritas in the city.

If you haven’t been to El Parador, run don’t walk. It’s old school Mexican food, ambiance, experience that’s been in this location for 50 or so years. I’ve been to many Haciendas in Mexico and this is exactly that in the middle of midtown Manhattan. Say hi to the owner Alex when you arrive - he’s the extremely friendly, kind one who will always remember you. Order the peanut butter stuffed jalapeños and it will change your life. Enjoy the tequila pineapple shot at the end of your meal because you deserve it. This is the best Mexican food in New York City. For over 15 years, I’ve run, not walked to this incredible spot.

This charming restaurant is a small, intimate space with delicious food. Wonderful spices and fresh ingredients are used for their meals. The sangria was great. The lighting makes the space very cozy. The service was excellent and the staff is very friendly.
