The prices make you think it may all be authentically farm-to-table, sustainable etc. but the food didn't have the level of flavour you'd usually expect from organic "happy animal" kinds of places, and the spicing wasn't great. The place was full of happy people though, but we'd just been in a couple of places like this in Cambridge MA and this didn't touch those.
What a place to start my first ever NYC trip! The waiters were amazing throughout our meal, funny, attentive and gave great recommendations.
My favourite dishes were the Brussel Sprout Salad, and the Chocolate Fudge with Honey dessert. All the other dishes we had were amazing too!
I would highly recommend The Marshal to anyone!

Food is great, but prepare for a tight fit. Place is small, so tables are naturally close to each other. Try to get the table along the wall (if for 2) or by the window (if +3)
We went there for one of their Winemaker's Dinners last week and it was amazing. No foolish pomp. Just exceptionally delicious courses paired with New York wines that complemented every course from the first of lobster, pear and apple slaw, micro fennel to the seventh course of marzipan honey mousse. Great service, great experience, fun and education. The owner Charlie was there to answer questions too! A gotta go to restaurant.
