Just stopped in for a cocktail before dinner. The lady behind the bar didn’t know how to make a negroni. Pretty basic for an Italian place. She had to ask them proceeded to make something that was close but not quite right. Also she used a dirty cocktail shaker that she smelled after dumping ice before using. Just not professional. Oh well. Maybe the food is better.

Bottino! What can I really say about this place. Well let's start with the decor. It's so quaint and welcoming, the walls are painted in a perfect shade of ivory and the chairs match it so well. You are then led to the back if you choose to be seated in the garden, which is surreal. It is a large area in the back, with perfect scenery, trees and great outdoor lighting for your dinner.

On to the staff. They are so welcoming, attentive and extremely polite. They always came to bring us more water, talked us up, asked us where we got our clothes and just seemed genuinely interested in us outside of just serving us food and going away. It was not just one either, it was a slew of them and even as other patrons started pouring in, the staff was still around and never more than an arm's reach away...just enough for when you need them and not overbearing. There is also a corner outdoor space that I believe is reserved for group seating and it looks perfect for a celebration dinner, like a birthday or graduation.

The food! When I tell you that the menu is exquisite, quote me on it! The prices are amazing for NYC and they give you a healthy serving for everything. We had the fettuccine with lobster and shrimp and it was only $22, which is unheard of for a New York restaurant. It was filled with lobster, tasted amazing and I can't wait to go back and have it again. The bread they gave us at the beginning was awesome as well. They are also accommodating so do not hesitate to let them know about your dietary restrictions.

They've gained a lifelong fan and I cannot wait to go back.

Beautiful courtyard out back that feels like you're sitting in the middle of a botanical garden! They've got a great cocktail list - try the chili blood orange margarita - and a good variety of Italian food. A bit pricey but what you expect for a trendy Chelsea restaurant. Definitely make a reservation in advance.

I've been to Bottino twice now and each time I've been quite disappointed for three reasons. 1) The front hostess is not very friendly, 2) the front environment always seems unkempt and not clean, and 3) the food is overpriced for what you get. The last time I went I got the lobster/shrimp pasta, and it was extremely tasteless and flat. My friend and I had to add the bread BUTTER to add taste. Moreover, the lasagna did not seem fresh at all. Not recommended.
