The first time I went last year, I was not very convinced that this place would make my list. I always try more than once and this time around JWF had me fully won over. The service was friendly, but not obnoxious. I hate it when I constantly have to confirm questions like 'how's the food?' or 'is everything alright?'. The food was great! I had the hanger steak and the scotch eggs. Both very tasty, cooked to the point and seemed very fresh incl. all sides.
I enjoyed this lunch very much and can only recommend this place.
The, have two larger rooms in the back and a courtyard, so do look inside before making the choice to sit on the sidewalk space they have. It is really charming in the back.
Looking forward to my next visit.
This place has such cool authentic English pub decor. The food overall is good but had a few things I wouldn’t order again like the English breakfast had way undercooked eggs and only one banger + no fried bread. The deserts however are amazing and the Banoffee pie was so good as well as the sticky toffee pudding. For savory you can’t go wrong with the bangers and mash or fish and chips.
Was craving fish and chips so we first based on reviews. The fish melts in your mouth but the chips were near burnt. Apparently they double or triple fry them which just wasn’t to my liking. The 3 stars are for their Scotch eggs. That was stellar and their wedge salad was also nice. What wasn’t nice was their version of sticky toffee pudding. It was more ginger than toffee so I only ate a few bites. I was also confused why dogs were allowed…in chairs at tables…inside. My husband loved their their braised spare ribs so I guess we’ll go again and I’ll try something else. Although be ware, it’s got a pub feel but has high prices. Cheers!
Hands down the best place to be in Manhattan. I've been in the city now for over 10 years and experienced all types of bars but I can safely say this is the best one. You immediately feel at home with the friendly service. The people make it special and it is in fact a special atmosphere. The drink options are amazing and so is the food. It's without a doubt a 5 out of 5 in all areas.
Jones Wood Foundry is fantastic. Call it an upscale pub or a casual restaurant, it doesn't matter. Dishes on the menu are delicious. Wines and beers are good. Service is friendly and efficient. Inside, the decor is pub-like and comfortable. The restaurant has more space than is immediately apparent -- it has dining rooms on multiple levels. Enjoy!
