The pickled vegetables are very good! The fried artichokes are not that great. The only flavor we could taste was the oil they were fried in. The grilled nectarine and cheese was a good idea, but the nectarine wasn’t sweet or ripe. The breads (all of them) that we ordered were amazing! Would eat them all over again. The fish salad and bean dip were both decent, but nothing really notable with either of those dishes. The calamari surprisingly wasn’t very flavorful, but the steak was delicious.
Overall, the restaurant was not very impressive, except for the pickled veggies and breads. Not sure what all the hype is about. You can get much better Middle Eastern food at a better price at several other places in the city.
If you’re looking for a place to try a whole bunch of stuff after a long workday - this is the spot for you. Incredible bites that will leave you full and happy. The Frena was so good we ordered an additional piece - don’t go here and not get a piece! Something about soft garlic on a fresh piece of bread is just the icing on the cake.
Note: if you’re looking to drink they have a long list of wines but a pretty small list of cocktails. Perfect for someone who wants a glass with bites!
I had a great meal at Shukette last night. I dined solo and enjoyed sitting at the chef’s counter watching the chefs skillfully and artfully prepare all of the dishes. All of the small plates I had were delicious. The tahini soft serve at the end was delightful- even if you’re stuffed from everything you ate, don’t skip it. The place has a great vibe. The service was efficient, attentive, and friendly. The manager greeted me at the end of the meal to make sure everything went well. I will definitely be returning!
Immediate favorite. Had awesome chef counter seats down at the end of counter towards back so could see every plated meal and got complimentary dishes from the kindest chef on the line. Staff was super helpful in guiding our choices. There was more we wanted to order - so coming with a group of four would be even better so could try more. Favorites were the dip with apricots, the new fava bean dip, crispy artichoke with amazing lemon flavor. Don’t skip on the chicken or the ice cream… even when we couldn’t finish it because we were so full was def worth the few bites.
What an incredible experience we had. The place was crowded but it still felt really nice and that everyone had their own space. Our server (His name is Angel) was absolutely helpful and very insightful about the menu, he pretty much ordered everything we had and i can say it was a great decision.
The quality and flavor of everything we had was really fresh, and very specific flavors that made all the menu taste so interesting. We tried almost all the dips, they were amazing and also the Moroccan bread, and Pita were absolutely lovely with the dips. Then we moved to the Wrapped cricket feta, The steak kebab and The lamb skewer.
We finished with a really interesting dessert, the only on the menu: Tahini Soft Serve
