I thought I knew good mexican. Carmelita's proved me wrong. Delicious. Fresh. Awesome and 100 other food adjectives and that only describes the bean dip appetizer we started with. I will be back more than once and sometimes in secret

Amazing meal, great atmosphere! I ordered nachos and small touches like the homemade tortilla chips took everything over the top. The salsa was made fresh and everything was delicious! Que Rico!

Let me start by saying that REAL Mexican food isn’t trendy tacos and Food Network chefs’ fusion creations. Real Mexican food is comfort food. It’s slow cooked meats infused with flavor, wrapped in flour or corn tortillas with tasty sauces and melted cheeses. It’s creamy refried beans and spicy salsas. And that’s exactly what Theresa is cooking up at Carmelita’s.
Theresa’s mom ran a Mexican restaurant down on Spencer st. decades ago and she continues that tradition. This is as real as a Mexican kitchen gets. It’s the equivalent of a French bistro, a family diner, or a mom and pop Italian restaurant. The decor is tasteful and homey. The food is excellent and all homemade. No sombrero-wearing waiters, no gimmicks, and no “restaurant supply” salsas. Just cooking from the heart. We’re so glad we found this place!
