Great food, especially the burgers
Had a pretty good experience here last night - getting together with friends I haven't seen in years (we had a party of 30+) was a lot of fun.
I have to say that our server, Pierce, was so personable and attentive! We as a whole group did not make it easy to serve food or track orders as everyone pretty much stood up all night moving from one group conversation to another. But Pierce handled it well - always calm, friendly and polite. I never had the feeling we were annoying him or making his night hard for him - he was great.
I did order the soup of the day which was chicken and rice and the romaine wedge salad with grilled chicken. The soup was nice and hot, and tasted homemade - I thought it was delicious. The salad was ok - the chicken was seasoned nicely.
I would like to go back again without the crowd for a couple drinks at the bar and a regular sit down meal... Hope to have service like we received tonight then as well.
The Barnsider is an off-the-beaten-path destination in Sugar Loaf which does a pretty solid job of making patrons feel like they've stepped through a time warp into an old inn for a bite. There' s no gimmicky period dress, but the staff are generally friendly (especially to regulars) and the food is good but not pretentious. It's worth checking out and seems to have that layed back vibe that fits well with its rustic setting.
