Koten's Carribean and American Restaurant

I NEVER leave reviews anywhere but I just had to today. Living on Staten Island you are so limited to food options let alone GOOD Caribbean restaurants. I tried a Caribbean restaurant on the island and it disappointed me beyond belief. I didn’t give up and continued to research more restaurants on the island. Came across Koten’s and I am sooooo happy I found this gem. The food is so good, WELL SEASONED and the portions is fulfilling. I ordered take out however the atmosphere of the restaurant was so warm and welcoming that it makes me want to dine in next time. This place is worth the 25 minute drive! I def will be back!!!

First let me start off by saying I have spent most of my adult life in Brooklyn, a lot in Flatbush so I've eaten at countless Caribbean restaurants. Being born and raised on Staten Island it's very hard to find really good Caribbean food. I was craving Caribbean food the other day and I just moved to this area in October so I didn't know where to go. I Google this place to see if it was open yet and decided to take a walk and I ordered the oxtails with rice and peas, veggies on the side. I have not had oxtails this good in so long. I don't even eat a lot of food at one time. I planned to eat half of my plate for lunch and the other half for dinner. By the time I looked up I ate all of the oxtails and most of the plate, that's how good it was. Even the atmosphere and the woman behind the bar that takes your order is so friendly they make me want to come back. I give five stars and I recommend this place to anyone! Try it! You will not be disappointed.
