Monsoon: Steak & Sushi

Went to monsoon with friends for my birthday on Friday night . We had reservations for 7:30 - they sat us immediately. We ordered the big sushi platter for the table , calamari, Brussels sprouts, pork buns, fried rice, shrimp appetizer. This was more than enough for four of us we left STUFFED. All the food was excellent except the calamari was too sweet and soggy. Best fried rice and Brussels I have ever had. We ordered fried oreas for desert which was presented very nicely for my birthday. The only part that was very disappointing was that my wine came halfway through dinner because they couldn’t find the bottle - this put me in an off mood for the rest of the meal. Very weird to have to wait that long for a drink.

The owner Michael opened his heart and doors of Monsoon Restaurant, to federal workers during the longest government shutdown ever, and hosted us to a generous complimentory 3 course meal. The food was very well prepared, with attention to detail. The servers were top notch, polite and accommodating.

Really good night spot. Saturday nights with DJ is probably the best option in long island with a nice mixed crowd. Plus bottles are not ridiculously priced for how nice the atmosphere is!

Very nice, tasty fusion cuisine. It has been three years since dining here, but I remember the rich feeling, low lit decor, comfortable seating and exquisitely tasty cuisine. I went for the first time with my Honey who recommended Monsoon. They did not disappoint and neither did she. The lady has refined taste in restaurants. Three thumbs up! Okay, two. I don't have three thumbs.
