This place offers a very limited menu which tends to be fast-food, fried or grilled, and a bit overpriced...compared to say, McDonalds. There is no competition. This is the only food offering unless one stops by a delicatessen (convenience store) while en route from Montauk Highway. So you pay for the convenient fare or you drive back towards town with your kids and grandma and then drive all the way back to the beach... or go hungry and thirsty . You may wish to consider bringing your own picnic basket and plenty of bottled water as a more prudent option to dine under the gazebo.
I go here much less than before because the karaoke has been cancelled due to an overpriveleged lady neighbor constantly complaining of the "noise". She seems to have some "pull" with the town board. If people were a little kinder, less self-centered and learned something about the good Word, there would not be noise complaints at 8pm on a Friday in July.
Comparatively speaking, the management and wait staff are very pleasant.
There are tables and chairs on the deck as well as along the rail facing the bay and beach. These tables have umbrellas. A see through plastic barrier acts as a wind barrier for your comfort when Mother Nature is trying to get your attention. Watch the ferry sailing back and forth.
The playground area for your kids, rest rooms, the food and drinks at Sunset Restaurant, and the view towards Fire Island are perhaps a good reason to come here.
If you are a senior citizen, there is often a small group which gathers at the large gazebo in folding chairs in the late afternoons.
Sunset Restaurant is a private concession adjacent to this area and there are his and her restrooms. Alcohol is not allowed beyond Sunset's border...that means down the ramp or the stairs.
The last time I checked, there is a parking fee for non-residents. Cyclists should stop at the stop sign and wave to the attendant just to be friendly. Parking is easy for us...and free.
Don't park on the grass (with your non-bicyle) when the lot is at full capacity. There are "Big brother is watching you" signs...well, to that effect anyway. I think the grass is an endangered species. Maybe the lady-karaoke-hater owns the grassy berm along this fenceline? Who knows for sure.
Great for watching the sunset. Live reggae, great cocktails, and a relaxed atmosphere.
We really enjoyed ourselves! The atmosphere was peaceful and of course the day we were there the Sun was shining so you almost got the feeling you were somewhere out in the Caribbean. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding!
Serene, clean, beach front, Live music this Saturday. First time going. Good waitress. Calm and peaceful. Plus alcohol beverage.
Enjoyed going with my wife this evening. Sand was clear of debris. Live music playing. Families BBQ and kids splashing in the water. Nice, calm evening. Really enjoyed the clear view to Fire Island.
