Incredibly loud inside. Was able to sit down right away on a Saturday night which was nice. We got the Buffalo wings which were pretty terrible and tasted like they were microwaved. The steak saved the day though. Super tender and full of flavor on top of sweet potato puree. Really great. The only other issue was they overcharged for the bottle of wine which when we questioned seemed to have happened to another table at the same time. The price was fixed but I'm wondering if they would have fixed it if we didn't say anything even though they knew the other tables price was wrong. All and all pretty good but not sure if I'd try it again.

So freakinggg AWESOME! I had such an amazing experience here! The staff was extremely polite, professional, & accommodating. The food was bomb, I got sticky ribs and a steak sandwhich which had arugula and I think Gruyère cheese which is one of my fave things to get eating out. Honestly I’m not a big french fry person but these fries were sick, they tasted super fresh and crispy like they made them from scratch, probably the best fries I’ve had. They killed it and the specialty cocktails were amazing as well. My waitress was an older women who was super attentive and so sweet, she called me hun & love, & just had an overall nice/positive presence to her. I loved the atmosphere and color scheme of the place and how they incorporated some old stuff from crickets.
Will deff be making this one of my regular go to spots! More than 5 stars for sure!

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! From the friendly hostess and waitress, to the specialty drinks to our appetizer of popovers and the burrata with jam, to our meals of the steak sandwich, which it seems to be very popular as we saw a lot of people ordering this, to my house special of striped bass over cannelloni beans in a vegetable stew. The menu has something for everyone. And best of all it’s fairly priced. The meals are not large portions but that in no way detracts from the meal. The appetizers are varied and this menu has something for everyone. We can’t wait to go back and try something different. We highly recommend this great addition to Sayville. Oh, it is a bit noisy but if you can sit towards the back it’s a good idea.

My wife and I just moved to Sayville and wanted to try this place out. We heard great things from a lot of our friends who are in the area and we were not disappointed.
The menu and food are incredible, the staff and service is really phenomenal and the ambiance of the place is great.
Our server David was amazing. He was so busy the night we went but that didn’t stop him from being attentive and conversing with us. He was friendly, helpful with dinner selections and very fast with drinks. I cannot stress how rare this is nowadays. I’ve had plenty of servers disappear on me but David was always around to check in.
The whole team over at Wayward really knocked it out of the park. I will definitely be back and I’m telling more people about this gem of a restaurant.

Tell 'em Barsnobs sent ya! So this replaced the old Crickets. I love Sayville. It's a slower, change of pace town then Patchogue or Islip or Bayshore. With that being said, having a new restaurant there is refreshing. Does it hold up? Somewhat. The place was busy on a Friday night so I expected it to be slower in service and I was right. Almost 15 minutes before we got served but our service was magnificent. Very friendly and nice. The drinks were good, not outstanding. We had the Fall Margarita. They were tasty but nothing fancy. As far as the food goes, it was good but not great. The app we had was the Burrata and it was very good. The main course we had was the Flank Steak and the Cauliflower Steak. Both very tasty. Flank Steak was smaller than expected. The Cauliflower Steak was good although the sauce on top was heavy in a vinegar/mint flavor, which was a little too much. The place was very nice and clean. I like the look, very clean lines, good dim lighting and cozy. Overall, we have had better, but we have seen worse. I think they have a chance. It was packed so people are enjoying it, and that's good. Just wanted to give a good review. There is some good stuff and some stuff to improve, in our opinion. I recommend you go and find out for yourself.
