If you haven't been here then go today. The biscuits and gravy is the best I've ever had,
the service is great and it's just such a cool little breakfast spot. No frills but good food.
The diner has been around since we were kids! It is under new management now, and I have to say, that they have managed to keep the ambiance of the "Riverhead Grill" I remember as a teenager. My husband and I stopped in for lunch on a visit to the Island last year. Seeing that it was under new management, my expectations weren't that high. I was pleasantly surprised! The Tuna Melt and the coffee was so good, and the service was friendly. I wish them many successful years of making customers happy!
My husband and I had breakfast there on Saturday. He had terrific corned beef hash and eggs (though I think it should have come with toast). I had the biscuits and gravy. Both were really good. Nice service - right across from the Farmer's Market on East Main so the location is perfect for grabbing a bite before or after shopping. It opens at 7, so that's great for coffee to go.
I love Sunny's so do my friends. Today there were 5 of us everyone enjoyed something different. I has a wonderful chicken pot pie, yum. We actually ordered one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches as an appetizer Jim cut it into 4 pieces so everyone had a taste, except one friend who ordered a grill cheese for her lunch. Clean pleasant great service and food????????????????????
A quaint mom & pop diner with excellent food beyond standard diner fair. Had the special, country fried steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans. The steak was prepared when I ordered, not sitting around waiting to be cooked. Real mashed potatoes with some lumps, hey I don't mind the lumps it's how you know they're real. And fresh sauteed green bean. The waitress was great, on top of everything. To top it off it was a Saturday evening and they had live music. Nice, not loud, made the experience complete. As I say, it worth stopping if you are in the area, hell I go out of my way for this place.
