Lobster Roll Southampton

Was excited to see the new location -- going to be great for pit-stops en route to Montauk -- and in my experience it lived up to the original in Napeague. We had the NE Clam Chowder and Lobster Bisque to start, and then fish and chips and a cold lobster roll to finish. Everything was excellent, fluffy light tempura style fried fish, buttery lobster chunks. Was surprised to see the soups served in diner-style coffee mugs (perhaps a holdover from the Greek diner that was in the location before), but that ended up not being a problem, kind of cute. The new restaurant decor is sleek and modern, elegant, though the restaurant seemed a bit overstaffed (more workers than customers, though I'm sure they'll find a balance after the first few weeks). Only complaint is the fries could be slightly improved, they tend to be kind of dry, but that's hardly a complaint when the fish is *out of this world*!

Was anxious to try this new spot after many dinners at their flagship restaurant on the Stretch, so we stopped by on our way out east yesterday evening. Friendly, efficient service and a clean, nautical decor was appealing but the food was just so-so.
Small order of clam strips to start. Barely enough to share for $7.50 and they were a little overcooked but still tasty with the tartar sauce. Classic lobster salad roll featured an overly toasted roll with flavorless chunks of lobster. The hot lobster bowl featured lobster that tasted seasoned with Old Bay or another spice that gave it flavor, but not a pure lobster with butter flavor.
I imagine this outpost will be packed in the summer given the location and the popularity of its parent. The food will have to improve for us to try it again.
I didn’t bring this to the attention of management as everything was edible, but I did fill out the little feedback card they included with the check. I hope they take a look at it.

Consistently excellent food & the staff is as friendly and warm as ever. So glad they expanded to Southampton and will be here year round! The best bisque ever and the lobster rolls are the best!
