Eckart's Luncheonette

Great little place with fantastic food and good prices !!! They do NOT accept credit cards, but they have an ATM machine, and they'll give u access to your own money for a $3 fee. That was a bit upsetting and cheap. Cost them a star for that. Soups are great, and the sandwiches were also very good.

Simple food in a friendly, low key environment. Try the French Toast Breakfast sandwich for something different.

Nice little restaurant with a retro feel. Very charming decor that probably goes back 50+ years, frequented by locals. Food was pretty good too.

For starters, there are very few breakfast/luncheon spots west of the canal that have not been "Hamptonized" in attitude and pricing. My partiality to Eckart's is age-old since I have been patronizing Eckart's for over half a century which makes me a new comer since Eckart's has been in existence since the early 1900s. The decor has not changed in the last 100 years - fortunately. However, the newly-created menu specials are culinary delights in addition to the typical breakfast/luncheon items. The food gets better and better with each visit!
