The food here is great. Burgers are fresh and cooked to order. The fries were amazing and do yourself a favor and try the vanilla shake, best I ever had
So, curious as to whether this was worth the drive, about 30 miles from my home base, I tripped up to Saugerties for a lunch test of Buns Burgers. Lunch special (Tuesday through Friday) is a burger with hand cut shoestring fries and a small (22 oz) drink from their dispenser, all for $9.95. That is for a cheeseburger, a veggie burger, or a yard (chicken) sandwich. For an extra dollar, you can have a lamb burger, and there's another choice, but I forgot it.
The burger is small (about 4 oz), but tasty. When you are getting napkins, get some extras, because you're going to need it. The bun (a soft bun with an egg wash exterior) deteriorated about halfway through the sandwich, and I ended up finishing the last half with my fingers on bare meat. The fries were tasty and crisp, So crisp that using a fork to pick them up would, no doubt, break them into pieces. The soda was a Dr. Pepper, other choices includes iced tea, coke, diet coke, etc.
So, was it worth the drive? Probably not, but, if I'm within three miles of the place and hungry, I might be back.
From the outside, and even from the inside , you wouldn't know how good the food is. Beef is grass fed . Chicken and lamb and vegetarian burgers. GREAT seasonal salad and wonderful fries. Beer or other liquifs available.
I would definitely recommend stopping in for a burger and fries. The burger patties were thick and juicy, and absolutely delicious! The shoestring fries were crispy and also very tasty. A regular size was a generous portion, even shared among two people. We were there within an hour of closing and they weren't really busy. Our food was ready in a reasonable time considering everything is fresh and cooked to order. Their burgers are also local grass fed beef, so the price was in the right range. I had a deluxe, which includes their sauce, but I got it on the side. I'd suggest you do the same if you haven't had it before. The people were friendly, and the place isn't "fancy" but it seems very clean.
Amazing place to eat. Food is always delicious and comes to your table in great time. In my humble opinion the lamb burger is where it's at but I suggest trying them all.
