It was my boyfriend's and I first time in Ellenville and this place was recommended to us by our real estate agent. Sadly we didn't trust her recommendation as I just didn't believe she knew anything about Caribbean food, so we drove back to Brooklyn hungry. On our second visit to Ellenville we decided to gave it a shot and I'm glad we did. To test if their food was legit we went straight for the Oxtail and Curry goat (we skipped the Jerk Chicken as anyone can buy walkerwood jerk seasoning and throw it on some chicken thighs.. but it takes skills to deliver good oxtail and curry goat). It was sooo good, you can tell it was slow cooked. It was tender and just beautiful. Oh and the rice.....it was really good rice and peas. Sometimes the rice at Caribbean or Spanish restaurants are bland and you have to cover it with sauce to make it edible...this was not the case. The rice is seasoned with various spices, if you are a vegetarian be glad you won't have to suffer through boring rice...they have very good options. The pepperpot was not available when we were there, from my understanding it takes a long time to prepare so when it's out it's out. I'm hoping I can give it a try the next time I find myself in the Catskills.
