While the atmosphere and decor was amazing the food was unimaginative and was a let down. The staff was excellent. The food just felt phoned in. It took away from the experience.
Equus was a great place for eight people to share Thanksgiving Dinner. The entrees (beef, turkey, pork, and salmon) were served family-style, as were the side dishes. Afterwards we selected desserts from a large buffet. The service was excellent. The staff was very accommodating of one family member's food allergies. Expensive but worth it.
The food was amazing, but my boyfriend and I waited a long time to be seated despite making reservations. The location is absolutely breathtaking. Very intimate and beautiful setting.
My wife & I came to Equus (at The Castle) for our 6-month anniversary, and we were swept away by the experience! I've eaten at The Plaza, The Four Seasons, a private dinner at The Boathouse, Country Clubs in Greenwich, fine restaurants in Paris... none compare to what we enjoyed that night
The scenery was breathtaking. The food was beyond belief. I ate vegetables I usually hate, and was cleaning my plate & wishing for more. The service was insanely attentive. Bread-ninjas (I assume, I never caught sight of them) had replacement dinner rolls magically appearing on my side-plate. The meat melted in my mouth!
Now, be warned, this fabulous experience comes at a significant price, but as a special occasion destination, I believe it is worth it. (and I'm a cheap SoB)
