Not ready for prime time. We've been to Durian in Larchmont many times and this outpost is certainly far superior to the Thai restaurant that was here before. They seem to be doing a thriving take out business and my recommendation would be to do that rather than attempt to eat in. First complaint = no beer or wine and you cannot bring your own. Second complaint = it took over 10 minutes to get a cup of tea, water was luke warm and served in a small receptacle with a spout that was for sauce. No cups or way to make hot water. Two waitresses -- one who knew the menu and what she was doing walked away every time I was in the middle of talking to her or asking a question so I never really knew what to expect. The other one did not have a clue and dishes not as described. So again, food when it came out was very good, I just ordered the wrong thing for me due to lack of knowledge of first waitress and I had nothing to drink other than water or luke warm tea. Seems like they need to get their act together, but you should do fine with take out.
Flavoral, amazing Thai food with fresh ingredient. Fast and friendly service for take away. Can not wait for the grand opening.
I’m so happy that they’re open a new location in New Rochelle. I went to Durian in Larchmont a lot and I loved the food there. Tamarind shrimps and fish lad prig were very incredible. Last time I tried their dessert “Khao Naew Durian”, loved it.
I have been a fan of the Durian Larchmont location for many years now, and I’m so happy to see that they have expanded. The food here remains consistently fresh and the quality remains high. I can say for certain one of my favorite dishes has to be the Palo Duck. This dish is extremely flavorful, the Duck is exceptionally moist and tender. The sauce is light, not too thick, and provides that extra layer of flavor on top of the beautiful flavoring of the duck. I have also tried their Pad Thai many times, and that remains a consistent favorite as well. I’ll often order it as a side dish to go with my main course. They have an amazing staff, and they go above and beyond for the customers. Out of all the Thai food that I have eaten, in Westchester and elsewhere, Durian will always be #1!
I am a royal customer at Durian in Larchmont and we are so glad they open another location in New Rochelle. We live closer here and will be coming so often. Our favorite dishes are Panang Duck, Pad Thai Shrimp and Tiger Cries.
