Painted Fish Cafe and Beer Bar

Let's start saying that the service was outstanding. We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes for appetizer and they were delicious. Unfortunately, the meals were not so great, the Stuffed Salmon with Risotto was very disappointing. The portion was generous, but the Risotto was flavorless and so overcooked it looked like mashed potatoes; also, it was served at room temperature. For someone who loves her food hot, it brought the rest of the dish down.
The stuffed salmon was just okay, but the brussel sprouts were delicious. My husband had the Pork Chop; the Pork Chop was a good portion and was perfectly cooked but the seasoning was unbalanced, you could only taste the cumin, the mashed potatoes and collard greens were good. The place was almost empty so there's no reason for the food to be that off.

I had this restaurant on our hit list while we were vacationing / skiing. They were very accommodating and welcomed our party of 10 right off the slopes. Our waitress was awesome & very knowledgeable as well as descriptive - she actually remembered us from Sugar Mtn where she also works. Drinks were great, food was delicious & dessert was very good! We will go back next trip!

My family came here for lunch while visiting the Boone area. The location is nice. The decor inside was charming, very small town feeling. The food was pretty good although not many selections on the menu, I had a chicken burger which was cooked well and very flavorful. The kids menu was also pretty limited so maybe a tough place for picky eaters. All in all it was an enjoyable place for a tourist to dine in.

Service was excellent. Food was quite good and very well prepared. Atmosphere is casual and comfortable. As a big guy I would however like to suggest that they provide more chairs without arms. The chairs are pretty narrow and nearly all have arms. It took our server a few minutes to find me one that was comfortable. Also, as the food is a bit upscale be prepared for smaller portions and a bit higher prices than most casual dining restaurants. Nice place for special occasions.
