I feel bad that it’s taken me this long to update my review. Upcountry has absolutely improved in the last year. I used to genuinely dislike their food, beers, atmosphere, etc (I could go on) But since they reopened they have done a great job! They have a fun outdoor area, interesting live music, AND their beer is good now :)
My favorite brewery in Asheville. This place would have a higher rating if the “professional critics” wouldn’t whine so much about the service. Great beer coincides with slower service, due to the laws of supply and demand. Simple concept to grasp really.
Cool brewery in West Asheville, but service and food is very mediocre. Overall it is a cool spot with live music and a great beer selection. The only thing that is keeping it from being five stars is the service and food. We got the soft pretzels and buffalo cauliflower. Both came out lukewarm and the pretzels tasted freezer burnt and microwaved. The cauliflower was soggy and as stated before lukewarm. As for the service, they were nice, but all over the place. There was somebody who was walking around bossing the wait staff around and cussing to himself, just seemed a little weird. Overall go try it at least for the beer and live music, as for food, I would go somewhere else.
I usually enjoy my visits here to drink their great variety of draft beers and have a tasty bite. The consistency of service, while better, sometimes suffers a lull. I definitely recommend a visit.
The beer is great, but the food is delicious! We were pleasantly surprised, not only by the size of the menu, but by the quality of the food. It was also nice to be waited on - most of the breweries around here expect you to saddle up to the bar to order and pick up your food. Our server was great, as well - totally patient with my indecision, and my kids. We will definitely be back; in fact, I can't wait!
