Elena's Mexican Grill

A pleasant place to dine in Candler. The raised metal pictures on the walls are colorful representations of traditional Mexican pastoral scenes. The menu is extensive and the staff is friendly. I ordered the Plato Azteca. It was good, and included cactus as one of the ingredients. I never had cactus before, and it added an interesting dimension to the dish. Something I don't like about the Mexican restaurants in NC is that the food is very bland - no heat at all. Mexican cuisine prides itself on a generous use of a wide variety of peppers. I know the local restaurants are catering to the bland palettes of the local population, but I would suggest they ALL bring hot sauce(s) to the table for those who wish to eat their meal with authentic flavors.

Good authentic Mexican food at a great price. Service was friendly and fast. I got the Nachos Supreme.

Ordered take out tonight from them first time we've tried it and it was very good! I ordered the steak and shrimp with extra shrimp just in case it didnt come with enough. My fiancée ordered the cheese fries. The extra shrimp were forgotten but when i called to ask about it they were very nice and offered to refund me when i come in there. Very good food with great customer service i definitely recommend!

It was pretty alright! I would say, it would be great if they served bean dip with their chips! And their salsa is soup-like, with no spiciness at all. The food was pretty great though ngl! And the younger server is very kind and made my day better

Love having my favorite food choice so close to home. Very enjoyable night out without breaking the bank. They are facing the same staffing issues that seem to be plaguing every place these days. However the staff here were pleasant and attentive, and the menu and the food were what I look for in Mexican restaurant. Would of like to have had napkins and hot sauce on the table, however they are very new and I am sure just adjusting to being newly renovated and getting fully staffed. Highly satisfied with our first of what I hope will be many visits.
